Motorcyclist, 20, dies in crash with SUV

A 20-year-old Las Vegas man was killed Wednesday night when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a sport utility vehicle at a northwest valley intersection, according to Metro Police.

David Maples was riding west on Centennial Parkway on a 2005 Suzuki about 8:30 p.m., when a 69-year-old woman driving a 2008 Jeep Liberty made a left turn in front of him at the North Durango Drive intersection, police said. The motorcycle overturned and slid into the Jeep, police said.

Maples was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The intersection was shut down for several hours.

The crash, which remains under investigation, resulted in the 66th traffic fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.
