Motorcyclist, 26, dies after crash with pickup truck

A 26-year-old motorcyclist died early today after a crash with a pickup truck Thursday in North Las Vegas, according to police and the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

The wreck happened about 2:50 p.m. Thursday as the pickup, west on Carey Avenue, tried to make a left turn near Rancho Drive and collided with the eastbound motorcycle, according to North Las Vegas Police.

The motorcyclist, Nicholas Ordonez of Las Vegas, suffered multiple blunt-force injuries and was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead about 12:30 a.m. today, according to the Coroner’s Office.

The driver of the Mitsubishi pickup, a 44-year-old North Las Vegas man, suffered minor injuries and stayed at the scene, police said. He was not hospitalized.

The speed of the motorcycle, which was not specified, appears to have been a factor in the crash, Officer Aaron Patty said.
