No more rain expected, but valley will see cooler temperatures this week

Updated Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015 | 3:46 p.m.

Don’t fret, Las Vegas residents. Cooler temperatures are finally here.

After a weekend of warm weather, the valley is expected to cool down considerably due to rain at the beginning of the week, according to the National Weather Service.

Today’s expected high is 98 degrees. Light showers moved through parts of the valley, including the south side of Las Vegas (near the junction of Interstate 15 and the 215 Beltway) and scattered throughout Henderson, meteorologist Chad Shafer said this afternoon. Despite the cloud coverage, no more rain was expected today.

There is only a 20 percent chance of rain Monday, with a high of 96 degrees. By Tuesday, the chance of rain drops to 10 percent and the high is expected to be 90 degrees. The low temperatures for the week are expected to be in the 70s.

“Days and nights will feel much better than they have been,” Shafer said.

Temperatures will start warming up by the end of the week, but high temperatures aren't expected to reach 100 degrees.
