Health District opening new Men’s Health Center

Men seeking reproductive health services in the Las Vegas Valley will have a new place to turn.

The Southern Nevada Health District announced that it’s opening a Men’s Health Center on Tuesday inside the East Las Vegas Public Health Center, 560 N. Nellis Blvd. The center will offer services such as basic health assessments and education about family planning, risk factors for STDs and safe sex practices.

The reproductive health services will be available by appointment on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Clients can call 702-750-0900 to make an appointment.

“Many young men have questions regarding their sexual health or don’t have a full understanding of their role in preventing unplanned pregnancies,” Karen Atkins, the Health District’s community health nurse manager, said in a statement.

“This center will be a place where they can be comfortable asking questions, getting information and testing if necessary,” Atkins said. “We hope that when young men leave the center, they will be more informed and better able to discuss sexual health issues, birth control and family planning with their partners.”

The Health District also runs a Sexual Health Clinic at 400 Shadow Lane, Suite 106. The Sexual Health Clinic provides physician referrals, condoms, HIV screenings, risk behavior counseling and partner notification so treatment can begin quickly. It’s open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
