Heather Murren
After a long wait, Democrats are beginning to rally around a candidate to take on GOP state Sen. Michael Roberson in the 2016 congressional election: Heather Murren.
Murren is best known as co-founder of the Nevada Cancer Institute and for her work in finance. She is married to MGM Resorts International CEO Jim Murren.
Today, Sen. Harry Reid and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee touted her as a candidate, although Murren has not yet announced whether she would be running. She did not return a request for comment.
"Heather is exactly the type of person Nevada needs representing them, Reid said. "She will be a tremendous and formidable candidate for Congress."
The 3rd District seat is currently held by Republican Joe Heck, who will be leaving it to run for the Senate.
