Senior quarterback K.C. Moore completed 15-of-27 for 130 yards and two touchdowns to get Spring Valley back into the win column Friday night.

The Grizzlies (3-1) remained perfect on the road this season with their 22-15 win over the Clark Chargers (2-2).

“K.C. (Moore) has been a really good pickup for us this year,” said Spring Valley coach Marcus Teal. “He’s really grown into his own. He’s really taken the reins of the offense, and as he goes, we go.”

Moore started the scoring when he found senior receiver Antony Vazquez for a 27-yard touchdown in the first half. Vazquez finished the night with five catches for 55 yards.

Spring Valley took a 13-0 lead into halftime, but a second-half surge by Clark tied the game at 13.

That is when sophomore defensive end Joseph Pienta took over.

A bad Chargers snap sent the punter scrambling to the end zone, where he was tackled by Pienta for a safety to give the Grizzlies a 15-13 lead.

Pienta finished the night with an interception, two sacks and the safety.

“He is just really come on this year. He’s been doing a great job of getting to the quarterback,” Teal said. “For an undersized guy who was a baseball player, I couldn’t be happier with what he’s doing for us.”

Avery Dawson sealed the game with a late three-yard touchdown run.
