Woman, 31, dies days after car crashes into tree

A 31-year-old woman hospitalized last week after the car she was driving hit a tree in the northwest valley died today, according to Metro Police.

Penina Pollard of Las Vegas was pronounced dead about noon today at University Medical Center, nearly a week after the Sept. 12 crash, according to police.

Pollard was driving a 2006 Toyota Corolla north on Durango Drive near West Tropical Parkway when she ran onto the median and hit a 30-foot palm tree, knocking it over, police said.

Pollard, who wasn’t wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the car, police said.

The cause of the crash was under investigation, police said.
