Man who was fatally stabbed had been in argument at homeless camp, police say

A man who was stabbed Monday afternoon in the east valley had been involved in an argument with the suspect at a homeless camp before the incident, according to Metro Police.

Officers were called about 2:10 p.m. to the camp, which is under a bridge in the 3900 block of East Owens Avenue, near North Sandhill Road, police said.

Police found a man with a stab wound to the neck at the camp, and he was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The Clark County Coroner's Office has not released the man's identity.

Detectives say the suspect, who frequents the camp, was seen chasing the victim before the stabbing.

This is the 91st homicide this year investigated by Metro.

Police are still searching for the suspect.
