A worker died today after a construction accident at the Thomas & Mack Center, according to a statement from UNLV.
The Clark County Coroner's Office identified the worker as 27-year-old Las Vegas resident Joshua Richard Meade.
Meade was critically injured about 11 a.m. and was taken to a hospital, where he later died, according to the statement.
The university statement described Meade as a contract worker.
Clark County Fire Department units responded to the incident and transported Meade to University Medical Center as CPR was performed, department spokesman Jeff Buchanan said.
University officials are investigating the incident, and the official cause and manner of Meade's death will be determined by the Coroner's Office.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was notified and sent staff to the scene to investigate, spokeswoman Teri Williams said.
