Las Vegas scooter driver, 26, dies in Henderson crash

A 26-year-old man who was injured last week when the stolen scooter he was driving struck a traffic barrel before heading into oncoming traffic in Henderson died Wednesday, according to Henderson Police.

The Las Vegas resident was traveling north on North Green Valley Parkway near Clover Street about 9 p.m. Friday in a construction zone when he tried to pass a vehicle in front of him that was making a right turn into an apartment complex, police said.

As he tried to pass on the left, he hit a barrel and lost control of the scooter, police said.

The scooter hit a construction sign and traveled into oncoming southbound traffic, where it collided with a black 2008 Infiniti, police said.

The man, whose identity will be release by the Clark County Coroner’s Office, was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he died from injuries sustained in the crash, police said.

He was not wearing a helmet, police said. The Infiniti driver was not injured.

Police say the scooter was stolen from Las Vegas.

This was the eighth traffic-related death in Henderson this year.
