letters to the editor:

Forget servers; let’s focus on our security

Pin the tail on the donkey is the ever-persistent game being played by Congressional Republicans in which they always fail to find the donkey. They’re terrified that Hilary Rodham Clinton may be our next president, nullifying any chance they can move the country more toward a plutocracy with religious overtones.

They’ve spent countless hours and millions of dollars trying to pin the loss of a few souls in Benghazi on Clinton. Now the target is Clinton’s email server, where there may or may not have been a few classified documents in residence, while here at home the Chinese, Russians and anyone else with an IQ over 80 are continually hacking our industrial documents and government secrets. They obsess over a perceived bad deal about how to control Iran’s nuclear arms progress but never worried much when Bush 43 let North Korea go all nuclear and never addressed the nuclear-arms capability in Pakistan. Where were these game-players then?

It’s time a Republican Congress gets its act together before we all become donkeys and our adversaries the truly skilled players. All we know today is what we are told has been hacked. Is it possible that an adversary could, with a keystroke, shut down our national power grid and our banks, take control of our vehicles or stop stock-market trading? This is all plausible. Besides the constant pin-the-tail-on-Hillary games being played, is anyone in Congress actually looking at what really needs to be done to protect us?
