Henderson apartments evacuated after gas line struck during construction

An excavator struck a natural gas line in Henderson this afternoon, causing the evacuation of two apartment buildings, according to a city spokeswoman.

The accident was reported about 2:50 p.m., and as a precaution, officials evacuated units at the Martinique Bay Apartments, located at 3000 High View Drive, near Green Valley Parkway, according to Henderson spokeswoman Kathleen Richards.

Southwest Gas is working to repair the line break, and there are no outages due to the incident, company spokeswoman Sonya Headen said.

An estimated repair time was not immediately available.
