Restaurants and casino table games were closed and about 1,000 hotel rooms were temporarily without power after an outage today at the Monte Carlo, according to MGM Resorts International spokesperson Yvette Monet.

The partial power outage happened about 11:30 a.m. after a contracted work crew at the casino-resort accidentally damaged an underground power line, she said.

The power went out for a second throughout the resort as back-up generators kicked on, Monet said.

About a third of the resort’s 3,000 hotel rooms were without power for a couple of hours, Monet said. All power was restored by 2 p.m.
