Police arrest man sought in fatal stabbing

Metro Police have arrested a suspect in a fatal stabbing in January near Sahara Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard.

Brandon Alexander “Bee” Han, 27, was arrested Tuesday in the 2000 block of Santa Ynez Drive, around the corner from the house where Yaudis Venzant-Diaz, 41, was fatally wounded about 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 27.

Han was booked at the Clark County Detention Center on a count of murder, jail logs show.

According to an arrest report, Venzant-Diaz poked Han’s girlfriend on the shoulder during an argument. Han intervened, and Venzant-Diaz challenged him to a fight outside, police said.

During the fight, Venzant-Diaz threw noodles at Han’s face and tried to get back in the house and lock the door, police said.

But Han followed him, and the altercation continued in the doorway, police said. Witnesses said Han had made a stabbing motion toward Vanzant-Diaz’ stomach, according to the report.

By the time police showed up, Han was gone, the report said.

Officers followed a trail of blood from outside the house into a bathroom, where they found Vanzant-Diaz, police said. He died at University Medical Center.

Investigators did not find a weapon.

On March 9, detectives spoke to Han’s girlfriend, who implicated him in Vanzant-Diaz’ death, the report said. Han was supposed to turn himself in to police the following day, but he didn’t show up, the report said.

A warrant for his arrest was issued on March 15. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
