Artists’ drug use might spur their creativity

Kim Palchikoff’s guest column “Mental health, drug issues have ruined artists’ lives” does not take into consideration the possibility that the artists, musicians, authors, actors and thinkers who fell from the use of drugs would not have made such an impact on civilization if it were not for their use of these substances. The world remembers and honors them for their contributions to our culture, with the issue of drug abuse coming in a distant second if at all, and that it was their freedom of choice that inspired their creativity.
