Ex-Las Vegas illusionist to stay in jail ahead of porn trial

A German-born illusionist whose Las Vegas Strip show was canceled following his arrest on child pornography charges lost his appeal for release from jail ahead of trial.

Records show a federal judge on Tuesday ordered Jan Rouven Fuechtener to remain in federal custody ahead of trial June 6.

Defense attorney Jess Marchese didn't immediately respond to messages.

Fuechtener performs under the name Jan Rouven. His "The New Illusions" show at the Tropicana resort closed following his arrest March 16.

The 38-year-old performer has pleaded not guilty to receipt, distribution, advertising and possession of child pornography charges that could get him decades in prison and up to $1 million in fines.

He's accused of using the computer name "Lars45" to collect videos and images depicting sex acts with kindergarten-age children.
