Man shot, killed at east valley apartment

Updated Wednesday, April 20, 2016 | 1:03 p.m.

A man was shot and killed early Tuesday after a door was kicked in at an east valley apartment complex, Metro Police said.

Also according to police:

The shooting was reported after 2 a.m. in the 1400 block of North Sandhill Road, near East Washington Avenue. Arriving officers found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He later died at University Medical Center.

The man was in the apartment with several people, including the tenant’s family members, when another man kicked in the door. After the shots were heard, two men, only described as being black, were seen running from the apartment. They have not been identified.

The slaying is the 52nd suspected homicide in Metro Police's jurisdiction in 2016. Anyone with information is asked to contact Metro at 702-828-3521 or [email protected]. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.

A previous version of this story misidentified the man killed. This was due to an error in information given by authorities.
