Suspect sought after reportedly shooting man with rifle after argument

A man was killed Saturday evening in a residential area near East Serene Avenue and South Maryland Parkway.

Officers were called just after 7 p.m. to reports of a shooting in the 1000 block of Aspen Valley Avenue, according to Metro Police.

Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive man lying in the street, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The man was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he later died.

Investigation indicates the victim and a suspect were having an argument in the street when the suspect pushed the victim onto the ground and shot him several times with an assault-style rifle, police said.

The suspect, a Hispanic man, fled the area in a newer maroon-colored sedan.

This is the 56th homicide investigated by Metro in 2016.
