Updated Monday, April 25, 2016 | 3:06 p.m.

Firefighters responding to a medical emergency got caught up in a drive-by shooting Sunday night, but the crew was not injured, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue officials said.

Firefighters were dispatched about 8 p.m. Sunday to a home in the 3700 block of Sequoia Avenue for a reported medical emergency, fire and Metro Police officials said. The area is near Pecos Road and Owens Avenue.

While the crew was there, gunfire erupted in the street in front of the home, where people were gathered after attending a funeral, fire officials said.

Las Vegas Fire Department spokesman Tim Szymanski estimated nearly 70 shots were fired, while Metro spokeswoman Laura Meltzer could only confirm “several” shots.

A fire department rescue unit parked in front of the home was not damaged by the gunfire, officials said.

Additional firefighters responded to handle any additional injuries that might have resulted from the shooting, but nobody was injured, officials said.

Anyone with information about the shooting should call police at 311. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or online at crimestoppersofnv.com.
