A California high school athletic director accused of having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old student was arrested Tuesday in Henderson on six counts of statutory sexual seduction, according to Henderson Police.

Juan Ivan Barajas, 36, of San Gabriel, Calif., was being held at the Henderson Detention Center, police said.

About noon Tuesday, an officer noticed a black Lexus parked along the road in the 1500 block of East Galleria Drive, police said.

The car pulled away, and the officer ran the license plate through the National Crime Information Center, which indicated a runaway girl might be in the vehicle, police said.

The officer conducted a traffic stop, and Barajas and the girl were taken into custody, police said. The girl, who has been listed as missing since Friday, will be reunited with her parents today, police said.

Barajas is the athletic director at San Gabriel Mission High School, where the teen is a student, police said.

While the suspected sexual relationship is believed to be consensual, the girl is not of the age of consent and cannot agree to have sex with an adult, police said.
