Lightning-sparked fire causes $75,000 in damage at Henderson house

A lightning strike ignited an attic fire early this morning at a house, causing $75,000 in damage, according to the Henderson Fire Department.

The fire was reported about 4 a.m. at the two-story house in the 2700 block of Moliere Court, south of Democracy Drive, in the Maderia Canyon community.

Firefighters cut a hole in the roof and extinguished the fire before it spread to the rest of the house, officials said.

A resident heard a loud noise and was alerted to the fire when smoke detectors went off, officials said. She was able to get out safely with a dog and call 911, officials said. Nobody was injured.
