Heller indicates he may vote for ‘none of these candidates’

CARSON CITY — Republican U.S. Sen. Dean Heller of Nevada declined to say today whether he would support GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump and indicated he may mark “none of these candidates” on his November election ballot.

“I’m not voting for Hillary Clinton,” he said at a Republican women’s luncheon today. “I hope I get to the point where I can vote for Trump.”

“This is the most important election of our time,” he said. “We can’t afford another eight years of Obama policies.”

Heller said he disagreed with some of Trump’s comments about women, minorities and immigrants, and he didn’t like Trump’s criticism of fellow U.S. Sen. John McCain.

His noncommittal stance didn’t sit well with some in the crowd and elicited scattered boos. One woman said if Heller didn’t vote for Trump, she would remember it when he is up for re-election.
