Vashti Cunningham clears the bar Sunday, July 3, 2016, during the women’s high jump final at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials in Eugene Ore.

Vashti Cunningham of Las Vegas did not medal in the Olympic high jump finals today in Rio, clearing 1.88 meters but no higher. The Bishop Gorman High graduate finished in a three-way tie for 13th place with Airine Palsyte of Lithuania and Svetlana Radzivil of Uzbekistan.

Cunningham is the daughter of former UNLV and NFL quarterback Randall Cunningham.

The winner, Ruth Beitia, took her first major championship at 37 with a leap of 1.97 meters. The Spaniard took gold on a countback, beating Mirela Demireva of Bulgaria into second place, while Blanka Vlasic of Croatia took bronze.

Chaunte Lowe of the United States, a perpetual contender without a global title, also cleared the same height as Beitia but fell just outside the medals.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
