Rescue personnel help at the scene where a small plane crashed into a house a few miles north of Terre Haute, Ind., on Thursday.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — A small plane slammed into a home near a western Indiana airport, injuring two people on the aircraft.

The single-engine Cessna plane crashed Thursday evening a few miles north of Terre Haute near Sky King Airport.

Terre Haute Regional Hospital identified those on the plane as Patrick O'Neill and John Trump. Both are doctors at the hospital.

Trump was in critical condition at Regional Hospital. Vigo County Sheriff Greg Ewing tells WTHI-TV that O'Neill was in stable condition at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Resident Matt Fox tells the (Terre Haute) Tribune-Star that no one was inside the house at the time.

The plane's nose was embedded in the roof, with the wings vertical to the ground.

Ewing says the plane was apparently trying to land when it clipped tree limbs.
