Las Vegas 51s, Mets extend affiliation through ‘18 season

The Las Vegas 51s and New York Mets today announced a two-year extension of their Player Development Contract, maintaining the teams' affiliation through the 2018 season.

The 51s signed as the Triple-A affiliate of the Mets in September 2012 and renewed the contract in 2014.

In its four seasons affiliated with the Mets, Las Vegas has made two trips to the Pacific Coast League playoffs and produced a plethora of notable MLB players including Travis d'Arnaud, Zack Wheeler, Juan Lagares, Noah Syndergaard and 2014 NL Rookie of the Year Jacob deGrom.

The 51s previously spent four years under the Toronto Blue Jays (2009-12), eight under the Los Angeles Dodgers (2001-08) and 18 under the San Diego Padres (1983-2000).

The 51s have won five of their past six games but trail division-leading El Paso by 5.5 games with seven games left in the season. The Mets are in third place in the National League East with a 67-64 record.
