Woman snorkeling at Lake Mead died of heart disease

Authorities say a Las Vegas woman's death while snorkeling at Lake Mead over the weekend was caused by heart disease.

The Clark County coroner's office said Tuesday that being submersed in water also contributed to the death of 63-year-old Bonnie B. Wong.

Her death was ruled an accident.

The National Park Service said she became unconscious on Sunday while snorkeling with friends in the Overton Arm of the reservoir, and that rangers and paramedics couldn't resuscitate her.

The incident was the second death in two days at the Colorado River reservoir behind Hoover Dam.

An off-duty Florida police officer died Saturday after becoming unconscious while scuba diving at the wreck of a military B-29 aircraft that crashed in the lake in 1948.
