Reid has protected environment well

I would like to take the time to thank Sen. Harry Reid for all that he has done for our environment. The League of Conservation Voters has rated Reid with an 81 percent lifetime score in advocating for environmental issues. This means that in his time of serving us as a political figure, he has served the environment well.

One of the most recent actions he has taken is protecting the Gold Butte region. The region is Nevada’s piece of the Grand Canyon and a pristine landscape home to rugged mountains and canyons, Joshua trees, prehistoric fossils, majestic wildlife and an abundant Native American history that dates more than 3,000 years.

I appreciate how he took initiative and proposed a congressional bill in 2013 to conserve the Gold Butte area that protects the land and the history it holds that many take for granted.

For this, I thank you, Sen. Reid, and I wish you well during your retirement.
