Rep. Mark Amodei, R-Nev., speaks at the 19th Annual Lake Tahoe Summit at Zephyr Cove, Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, in South Lake Tahoe, Nev.

RENO — Nevada Republican Rep. Mark Amodei says the U.S. Senate should hold confirmation hearings and vote up or down anyone President Barack Obama nominates for the Supreme Court.

Amodei said Wednesday the only reason anyone could have for not wanting to cast such a vote is that they don't want their constituents to know how they stand on an issue.

The 2nd District congressman told KKOH Radio in Reno that if a senator doesn't like the nominee, they should vote against them.

Amodei has endorsed Jeb Bush for the GOP presidential nomination. But he says no one knows who will be the next president, or which party will control the Senate next year.

He says if anyone in the Senate is afraid to vote on a Supreme Court nominee, "they should probably find a new job."
