Court upholds sentence of man in 3-year-old son’s death

CARSON CITY — Despite mistakes by the prosecutor and judge, Nevada’s Court of Appeals upheld the conviction and sentencing of a Las Vegas man in the death of his 3-year-old son in 2013.

Jonathan Quisano pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and child abuse and endangerment with substantial bodily harm, according to court records. In 2014, he was sentenced to 10 to 29 years in prison.

The Court of Appeals said a prosecutor failed to supply a copy of an affidavit to defense lawyers at the sentencing hearing, but the error did not affect the sentencing, according to court records.

The court also said the judge erred in allowing a newspaper reporter to record the sentencing hearing, but that also did not impact the sentence.
