Las Vegas bakery owner launches primary challenge to GOP assemblyman

A Las Vegas bakery shop owner is mounting a primary challenge against incumbent Republican Assemblyman Brent Jones.

Tiffany Jones announced Friday that she would seek the Assembly District 35 seat. She's being backed by Republican Assembly Majority Leader Paul Anderson.

Incumbent Brent Jones was part of an unsuccessful effort to block a tax increase last spring and often opposed party leaders' positions. He's recruited anti-tax candidates to run against fellow Republicans who supported the governor-backed tax package.

Tiffany Jones previously worked as a pastry chef on the Las Vegas Strip and is now owner of a boutique bakery called Peridot Sweets. The San Diego native is married, has a young daughter and mentors female entrepreneurs.
