A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of his father during a dispute at a Henderson house this morning, according to police.

Daron Clanton was booked into the Henderson Detention Center on a murder charge, Henderson Police said in a news release.

Officers were called about 11:40 a.m. to the 900 block of Painted Pony Drive, near Whitney Ranch Drive and Patrick Lane, police spokeswoman Michelle French said.

The 54-year-old father apparently died at the scene of a gunshot wound, she said. The Clark County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the man’s name.

Three people were home during the shooting, and Henderson Police say they had not been called to the address for any past reports of domestic violence.

This marks the first homicide of the year in Henderson, French said. Last year, Henderson Police reported four homicides in their jurisdiction.
