Brenda Stokes appears in Las Vegas Justice Court for a hearing at the Regional Justice Center on Friday, December 28, 2012.

A Las Vegas woman accused of kidnapping and killing her ex-boyfriend's 10-year-old daughter in December 2012 has accepted a plea deal that is expected to spare her the possibility of facing the death penalty.

KLAS-TV reports 53-year-old Brenda Stokes Wilson pleaded guilty in Clark County District Court on Thursday to first-degree murder with a deadly weapon, first-degree kidnapping with a deadly weapon, burglary, attempted murder and mayhem.

Stokes Wilson originally pleaded not guilty and was scheduled to go to trial last April for allegedly killing 10-year-old Jade Morris, and slashing the face of a co-worker at a Strip casino in a jealous rage.

Prosecutors had indicated they'd seek her execution if she was convicted. She's expected to get a life prison term at her sentencing set for March 9.
