Suspect arrested after break-in at McDonald’s

A suspect was arrested following a break-in at a west valley McDonald’s and a police chase early this morning, according to Metro Police.

Police were called about 4 a.m. to 7530 W. Washington Ave., near North Buffalo Drive, where an employee reported a broken door at the fast-food restaurant, Officer Laura Meltzer said.

The suspect left from the back of the building, and police spotted a vehicle taking off from the direction the suspect fled, she said.

Officers followed the vehicle to North Torrey Pines and West Vegas drives, where a male abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, she said.

Officers set up a perimeter, and K9 units also responded, she said.

The suspect was located about 6:20 a.m. in the 6300 block of Blue Twilight Court, about 2.5 miles from the restaurant, Meltzer said.

He suffered minor injuries while being taken into custody and was taken to University Medical Center for treatment, she said.
