Trial set for Las Vegas man accused of threatening Obama

A federal trial date has been set for a Las Vegas man accused of posting Facebook threats to harm President Barack Obama.

Court records show the jury trial for Tyrone Paul Ponthieux is scheduled for April 18.

Ponthieux in June pleaded not guilty in U.S. District Court in Las Vegas on charges that he made threats against the president, possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

He's accused of posting a message in November 2014 for people to get guns and shoot congressmen, senators and Obama, and to use a wood-chipper to finish the job.

Ponthieux's attorney couldn't immediately be reached for comment.

There is a pre-trial hearing on April 13.
