Letters to the Editor:

Blame Democrats for nation’s health care debacle

Holier-than-thou liberals are so proud of themselves for their takeover of our health care system. They mostly needed the law to take care of injuries they suffered while patting themselves on the back.

Often, they point to a couple of good provisions, such as eliminating pre-existing conditions and lifetime caps, as well as helping the poor with the expansion of Medicaid, but I don’t think a 2,000-page bill with 20,000 accompanying pages of regulations were needed to accomplish that. The same could be accomplished in three pages or fewer.

Now the Unaffordable Lack of Care Act has premiums and deductibles skyrocketing, with unintended consequences prompting many to opt for penalties rather than insurance. In my case, premiums increased 300 percent. Now, due to health issues, I am unable to work and my income is zero. I looked into getting a subsidy, but I can’t get any if I want to keep my policy or my doctors (Obama’s lie appears once again).

To get a subsidy, my ACA-compliant policy isn’t “good enough.” I’m forced to pick a policy on the exchange, where there’s little choice of doctors or specialists. The specialists I need have waiting times exceeding six months, so basically they’re useless.

I know this is just anecdotal, but I hardly think my story is unique. I’m fed up being constantly screwed by meaningless “feel good” legislation as well as being penalized for a lifetime of behaving responsibly. Thanks, Democrats! This law, among many, needs to be repealed and replaced.
