Treat solar customers fairly

I find this amazing! NV Energy is crying to its customers, saying that if NV Energy doesn’t get its way the cost of energy for nonsolar customer will increase substantially because of rooftop solar. NV Energy has convinced the Public Utilities Commission to take its side, along with many nonsolar customers. Once again a large corporation with deep pockets is able to spread false information, or at the least deceptive information.

NV Energy has about 1.3 million customers in Nevada and growing. There are about 16,000 rooftop solar customers. This represents about .0123 percent of its customer base. What is it afraid of? Its profits in 2015 were about $354 million.

What is a profit? A financial gain, especially the difference between the amount earned and the amount spent in buying, operating or producing something.

NV Energy is an approved monopoly in Nevada. That means it has no competition. The residents of this state deserve to be treated fairly. Rooftop solar is not going away. Other states have found a way to support rooftop solar, and we need to do the same.
