A Henderson man was arrested Saturday evening in connection to the death of his 3-year-old daughter.

According to Henderson Police, Justin Tom Bennett, 23, was apprehended about 6 p.m. on murder charges. He was booked into the Henderson Detention Center without incident and will appear in court Tuesday.

Henderson Police and and the Henderson Fire Department were called to the 2400 block of Tilden Way, east of Pecos Road near Windmill Parkway, where Abygail Bennett was found unconscious inside the home, police said. She was taken to St. Rose Dominican Hospitals — Siena Campus, where she was pronounced dead.

Investigators found that Abygail Bennett had suffered blunt-force trauma to the chest, and an autopsy determined she died from the injuries.

Justin Bennett was inside the home with his three children at the time she died, police said. The remaining children were removed from the home and are in the care of their maternal grandparents.

The girl’s death makes the fourth homicide in Henderson this year.
