CARSON CITY — The state Attorney General’s Office says the Nye County District Attorney’s Office must provide legal services to the unincorporated town of Pahrump without charge.
Nye County District Attorney Angela A. Bello sought a legal opinion in March on the responsibilities of her office to act as the attorney for Pahrump.
Senior Deputy Attorney General Daniel Westmeyer wrote on July 6 that an elected town board can hire its own attorney, relieving the county district attorney from providing legal services. But the town board in Pahrump was previously dissolved.
