HAWTHORNE — No damage or injuries are reported after a pair of earthquakes west of Walker Lake in northern Nevada.
A Mineral County sheriff's dispatcher says people in Hawthorne reported feeling the magnitude 4.3 temblor about 4:15 p.m. Thursday and another 4.5 quake about 11:40 p.m.
KOLO-TV in Reno reports that a woman reported feeling the first quake at work in Yerington. That's about 30 miles away.
The University of Nevada, Reno Seismological Laboratory says both quakes were a little less than 13 miles northwest of Hawthorne.
The area has been experiencing a swarm of earthquakes for about a year.
