Man goes in restaurant to report being shot

Updated Sunday, July 10, 2016 | 12:44 p.m.

A man was wounded this morning after a driver shot him, but Metro Police was not classifying the incident as road rage.

The man entered a restaurant in the 2600 block of South Eastern Avenue about 7 a.m. Sunday and told bystanders he had been shot, Metro Lt. Jeff Goodwin said.

Investigation indicates that one vehicle cut in front of another vehicle, forcing it to stop, before one person shot the man, Goodwin said.

The man was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.

Goodwin said he would not classify the incident, which remains under investigation, as just a case of road rage.

Roads in the area were closed so investigators could process the scene but were reopened by 9 a.m.

No other details were available.
