UNLV football grabs commitment from California prospect

The UNLV football team received a verbal commitment today from a Los Angeles area wide receiver and safety.

Jamaal Neal, who last fall caught 40 passes for 758 yards and seven touchdowns for South Gate High, is the Rebels’ third verbal commitment for the class of 2017.

The 6 foot-1, 227-pound Neal also rushed 12 times for 201 yards and five touchdowns in 2015. At safety, he recorded five interceptions to help South Gate finish with an 8-3 record.

He joins a pair of Las Vegas area prospects — Desert Pines quarterback Marckell Grayson and Bishop Gorman linebacker Farrell Hester — as verbal pledges.

Running back Isaiah Morris from Desert Pines de-committed earlier in the summer, but it still considering UNLV. UNR is also heavily pursuing the speedster, and Eastern Washington and Hawaii have offered scholarships.
