Supreme Court rejects petition over state Catalyst Fund

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Supreme Court has declined to consider a lawsuit by a Las Vegas man challenging the state’s Catalyst Fund, which provides incentives for companies to locate or expand in Nevada.

The court said the petition by Wayne Little was premature, and the case should return to District Court in Carson City for a ruling on pending issues.

Little said he was a competitor with rooftop solar company Solar City, which received state grants from the fund, while he did not.

The suit was filed against the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, which administers the fund.

The fund was started with $10 million. The law was changed in 2015 to allow the Economic Development Office to offer tax credits to new and expanding businesses.

The court’s order was dated July 12 but was released today.
