Man sentenced to 112 years in string of robberies

Robbing two liquor stores, a convenience store, a payday loan store and an electronics store in 2014 — walking away with no more than $250 each time — has landed a man in prison for 112 years, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Dominique Wells, 29, of Las Vegas, was sentenced today in federal court, Daniel Bogden, U.S. attorney for the District of Nevada, said in a news release.

A jury convicted Wells in April of five counts each of armed robbery with a firearm and conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery, and two counts of conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery, officials said.

Co-conspirators Christopher Dobbins, 28, and Andre Hall, 27, pleaded guilty last year, officials said. Dobbins was sentenced this month to four years in prison, while Hall awaits sentencing, officials said.

According to authorities, Wells, wearing a mask and gloves, robbed a convenience store in Henderson on June 15, 2014, and four days later, he robbed a Las Vegas liquor store with a gun and laser sight.

He pulled off a similar robbery two days later at another Las Vegas liquor store, officials said.

Five days after that, Wells robbed a payday loan store in Henderson, officials said. Three people were tied up during the robbery, officials said.

A few days later, Wells robbed an electronics store in Henderson in which employees were bound using zip ties, officials said.

On Average, Wells walked out with $100 to $250, officials said.
