This country is having an internal debate concerning guns. The Republicans and the National Rifle Association believe that if everyone had a gun, we would be safer. The GOP has made it clear ir intends on passing no legislation that in any way puts limits on guns. The Cleveland convention gave the party an excellent opportunity to demonstrate that policy. A petition to bring guns into Quicken Arena gathered 25,000 signatures. With the recent acts of violence in both our country and abroad, additional security was needed at the convention. What could be safer than if every person at the convention had a gun? Of course that would mean the protesters get to have guns also.
But the Secret Service only allowed law enforcement personnel to carry guns at the event.
The GOP has been preaching no limits on guns; now it’s time to practice it.
