UFC 183: MGM Grand Garden Arena Weigh Ins

L.E. Baskow

Welterweight fighter Tyron Woodley flexes for the crowd during the UFC183 fighter weigh ins at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Friday, January 30, 2015.

The busiest month in UFC history concludes tonight at Philips Arena in Atlanta.

The second pay-per-view card in the last three weeks, UFC 201, begins at 7 p.m., making it six fight cards in July for the locally based mixed martial arts promotion. And they’ve been nothing if not volatile.

Favorites are barely outperforming underdogs during the jam-packed stretch of combat, having gone 32-27 overall. The advantage dissipates when looking only at headlining bouts.

Closing underdogs are 4-1 in the last five main events, most recently striking when Valentina Shevchenko knocked off Holly Holm at UFC on Fox 20 last weekend. Tyron Woodley could continue paying off longshot bettors in his long-awaited welterweight title shot against Robbie Lawler in the main event of UFC 201.

Woodley is a plus-175 (risking $1 to win $1.75) underdog, making Lawler the biggest favorite of his championship career at minus-210 (risking $2.10 to win $2).
