Troy Brown Jr., Centennial HS, for Las Vegas Sun’s Super Seven, Nov, 12. 2015.

Centennial High senior Troy Brown and former Findlay Prep guard Markus Howard both made the 12-man roster for the 2016 USA Basketball Men’s U17 World Championship Team, it was announced today.

The duo survived two rounds of cuts over the past week at training camp in Colorado Springs, Colo., and from June 23 to July 3 they will compete in Zaragoza, Spain. The FIBA World Championship for Men started in 2010, and through three competitions, USA Basketball is 23-0.

Howard, a Chandler, Ariz., native who won gold last year at the FIBA Americas U16 Championship in Bahia Blanca, Argentina, is the lone class of 2016 player on the roster. However, he was originally in the class of 2017 before reclassifying and committing to Marquette in April.

Brown, who is one of the top players in the class of 2017 and undecided on his college choice, has been in previous USA Basketball training camps, but this will be his first competition. Bishop Gorman High senior Charles O’Bannon was also at the U17 training camp but did not make the final roster.
