Man sought in California shooting arrested in Las Vegas

A man wanted in the shooting of a woman last year outside a roller skating rink in Chino, Calif., was arrested Thursday in Las Vegas, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Cordell Jennings, 30, a fugitive wanted in California by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, officials said.

A warrant was issued charging Jennings with attempted murder, officials said.

Witnesses reported that two people approached the victim about 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 31, 2015, and that one of them fired multiple rounds before fleeing in an SUV, according to a news release from the city of Chino. The woman was critically injured.

Information was received that Jennings fled to Las Vegas, and he was arrested near Martin Luther King Boulevard and Lake Mead Boulevard, according to the U.S. Marshals Service. He was booked at the Clark County Detention Center pending his extradition to California.

“This successful investigation is another example of how effective the combined resources of the participating task force agencies are making Las Vegas a safer place by quickly removing dangerous felons from the community,” District of Nevada U.S. Marshal Christopher Hoye said.

The task force is led by the U.S. Marshals and includes Metro Police, Nevada Department of Public Safety and Henderson Police officers.
