Allegiant flight reports tire blow-out, returns to Las Vegas

An airport official says an Allegiant Air flight to Indianapolis returned to Las Vegas with 213 passengers and crew aboard after the pilot reported a tire blow-out during takeoff.

McCarran International Airport spokeswoman Christine Crews said Allegiant Flight 500 landed a little before 11 a.m. Wednesday.

No fire or injuries were reported.

Crews says the runway was closed while workers cleaned up rubber debris shed during the landing.

She says the aircraft, a Boeing 757, was able to taxi to a gate under its own power.

Airline spokeswoman Jessica Wheeler says plans are being made to replace the aircraft to fly passengers to Indianapolis.

Records show the flight departed a little before 9:15 a.m. PDT, and had been expected to arrive in Indianapolis about 4:45 p.m. EDT.
