Woman rescued in fire near McLeod Drive; no one hurt

An elderly woman was rescued from a second-story balcony of a burning house Saturday afternoon, according to the Clark County Fire Department. Damage was estimated at $25,000, and no one was hurt.

Also according to the department:

Firefighters were called about 2:45 p.m. to the house in the 3000 block of Phoenix Street, near McLeod and East Vegas Valley drives, where a kitchen was on fire and a woman was trapped.

Crews used a ladder to rescue the woman and extinguished the blaze in about 10 minutes. They were able to get pets out safely.

The woman was evaluated on scene and was not transported to the hospital.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
