Ban the open sale of fireworks; keep pets safe on the Fourth

The time has come to ban the open sale of fireworks and just let professionals handle them in safe areas for people to enjoy.

There are many reasons why we should do the right thing by banning these dangerous explosives — for the good of people, pets and the environment.

Let’s not forget the children who are burned every year and the homes and buildings that catch on fire.

Fireworks also scare animals very much. Please keep your pets inside a couple of days before the Fourth of July and a day after, as we can hear fireworks all over our community during that time.

Many of the animals left outdoors for these few days will get out of their backyard anyway they can to escape the noise. Please keep them inside for a safer holiday for everyone.

Animal Control, firefighters and people who don’t get their pets back likely would be thankful for a ban on the sale of fireworks.
